Alex Byrne mentioned National Library of China
Technology provides new and expanding ways in which to communicate but the desire to do so is an unbroken thread of human history. That was what impressed Byrne when he visited China's national library. There he was taken into its vaults to view its greatest treasures. Before him was a series of inscribed animal bones almost 5000 years old - among the world's earliest written communication.

Farewell to San Juan
This morning, I will leave San Juan, Puerto Rico.
My trip will take 25 hours, including 17 hours of flight.
When I am back to China, I cannot access Blogspot, Twitter, Picasaweb, Flicker, etc., very often.
See you again somewhere else in the world.

My article published in EALRGA Newsletter
Today, I found that my article "Collection Development in the Digital Age: Changing Roles of the National Library of China" is just published in EALRGA Newsletter (The newsletter of the East Asian Library Resources Group of Australia):
IFLA Journal Editorial Committee meeting
I just attended IFLA Journal Editorial Committee meeting during WLIC 2011. This is my first time to attend the meeting as a EC member. In the previous EC, Dr. WU Jianzhong was a representative of China.
